Whenever i see someone crying, i myself start to well up with tears. I don't know if it's a reflection of how i sometimes feel, if it is complete sympathy, or if it is simply contagious but it definitely happens. When i stumbled across Marina Abramovic's performance art, an exhibition featured at MOMA, and the portraits taken of its viewers, i was a bit of a mess. What do you think? Could the people's reactions be an internal reflection? Very thought provoking and beautiful. There are hundreds of portraits here. I wouldn't last 2 minutes...

It's amazing you posted this. I was just there a few weeks ago and was watery-eyed throughout the entire exhibit. I waited about 30-45 min to sit with her but the cue was rather long and I missed out.
ReplyDeleteMarina seemed to be in a meditative state, but not in a daydreaming kind of way, she was very much present and connected. I think these portraits are a beautiful extension of the performance and do more than just document. I would have cried.
