Is this starting to sound like a Billy Joel song? Anyway, I'm very captivated by Phillip's work. The subject matter haunts me and draws thoughts of a surviving world with a romantic tone. His sculptures are resurrected pieces of broken Florida homes and dioramas of shifting overgrown materials both natural and synthetic. I love the collages as well but I am especially drawn to the architecture of the sculptures–part whimsical treehouse, part serious post-apocolyptic shelter, part disturbing reality of south Florida's housing crisis.
