This past weekend I went to Sydney for a design conference called Semi-Permanent. It's an incredibly inspiring and amazing conference where I had the privilege to listen to twelve speakers share their love for design, art and photography and how the paths they travelled down have led to incredibly rewarding and outstanding careers doing what they love.
One speaker in particular really got to me. His name is Corey Arnold and he is amazing. Corey shared how from the moment he was able to stand he was holding a fishing rod and catching all kinds of sea creatures { including sharks! } He is an Alaskan Commercial Fisherman and also an incredible photographer. I'll let the photos speak for themselves, although there are some pretty interesting and hilarious stories behind each one. Oh! and something about the TV series "The Deadliest Catch"... I've been too far from America for too long...Enjoy.
Some really gorgeous and inspiring colour palettes from the surface of our amazing planet combined with some amazing stones and gorgeous frocks. Kathryn Blackmore's The Vamoose ... her blog is tremendous, her jewelery incredible. -sky-
I recently designed this invite for a lady who wanted a crafty, original design. I also did their ceremony cards and hope someone else sees these and asks me to do another one. So much fun.
These haunting photographs sparked something quite sad and nostalgic in me. Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison work together to create some visually stunning work that seem to have been taken from someone's dreams mixed with night terrors in a surreal and beautiful way.
There is no doubt that Tina Tyrell takes beautiful photographs for some of the most interesting fashion designers today. It is however her sensitivity to the medium that makes me appreciate and admire her work so much. Her blog is honest, with thoughtful and intelligent writing on photographic practice and theory. She understands the punctum. I always look forward to visiting her site.
I know a very talented couple who have a very rad tumblr and a very rad clothing label called Horselove. {I own the tarantula shirt which I'm sure you saw on skype once...;)
