1929 Indian

A friend of mine is in a band called 1929 Indian, and she asked me to Art Direct the band's cd artwork. We decided to go into a dream / surreal-esque direction and a friend of mine, Sean, shot what was in my mind. Ruth is in the band and is also the girl in my dreams;) This was a really fun project in so many ways. I made the starfish headpiece with a few friends and also laced up those branches. I'll be sure to post you an album when it's out.

Caetano Veloso, Brazilian political activist/songwriter & musician, is making my summer even hotter. I have been looking up translations for every possible song from this amazing collection of albums from 1968-1972. I want to know the poetry I am dancing around the house and shaking my ass to. So far very moving and beautiful.

wow. Darren Soloman of Science for girls had twenty musicians film themselves playing an instrument in B flat - you can play them all at once or pick two or eight and listen to the beautiful melodies that can come from this simple note.

Warm Inventions

Hope Sandoval will be releasing a new album, Through The Devil Softly, this September with her band the Warm Inventions and Colm Ó Cíosóig of My Bloody Valentine. Take a listen to the hauntingly beautiful Blanchard. I recommend closing your eyes, listen for the piano. Sounds like the perfect way to welcome in Autumn (and Spring).

Autumn Story

The Firekites are a local Newcastle Band and they are on constant rotation in my ears. They would probably roast marshmallows over an open fire at a beach party with Kings of Convenience, Tortoise, Stars, Midlake and other folkie ... folks. Apparently this video took almost 5 months to make...enjoy x
